There are many restaurants in Lanzarote serving what is called ‘Tex-Mex’ food, which originally was Mexican food made by Mexican-Americans adapted for the North American market. Emma’s Cantina Mexicana is the only Mexican restaurant in Lanzarote where traditional Mexican recipes are being used including, wherever possible, imported Mexican products, all cooked by a Mexican – thereby giving a very different taste from any other restaurant on the island.
The experience is completed by a beautifully decorated restaurant that seats 40 inside, in a totally non-smoking environment. The décor reflects the bright colours found in buildings all over Mexico and also features many items of Mexican art and artifacts brought back on Mike and Emma´s frequent trips to Mexico. There is even a statue of the “Virgen of Guadalupe” carved by Argentinian sculptor Daniel Marquez, now a resident of Lanzarote.
Outside of the restaurant there are two tables for diners (or smokers) that like to enjoy ‘al fresco’ dining, with views of the harbour.
The Cantina has already proved such a favourite with residents and visitors of all nationalities that Emma frequently changes her menus to give returning customers a different choice of dishes.
Make sure that on your next trip to Lanzarote you look up Emma’s Cantina Mexicana – they will be delighted to serve you and give you a dining experience you will want to repeat more than once…
