Some Cocktail Trivia:

The Origin of the Cocktail
Betsy Flanagan, a barmaid in a tavern in Hall's Corner NY served 'Betsy's Bracers' to American and French soldiers during the Revolutionary War. One day American soldiers stole some pheasants from a nearby British farmer and a wild party was had. Betsy decorated her drinks with the bird's tail feathers and while drinking the soldiers gave a toast. ''Here's to the divine liquor which is as delicious to the palate as the cock's tail is to the eye''. To which one French soldier replied, ''Vive le cocktail'' - or so the story goes!
