Emma’s Cantina Mexicana is the only Mexican restaurant in Lanzarote owned and managed by a Mexican, serving traditional Mexican cuisine and using Mexican products with dishes cooked by a Mexican chef.
Situated in the Old Town of Puerto del Carmen near the picturesque Harbour with easy parking facilities, Emma’s Cantina Mexicana offers a wide selection of Mexican Food including Fajitas, Quesadillas, Nachos, Enchilladas, the best Chili con Carne and Chili Rojo, plus salads and vegetarian versions of the above, amongst many other tasty dishes.
We managed 4 visits in our 3 weeks stop in Lanza. As usual, the atmosphere, friendliness and food are second to none. Gonna have to leave some negative press if you get any busier, if only to make it easier to get a table. Seriously, I’m very pleased & not surprised you are doing well. Best wishes to Mike, Emma, Paula, Frida & staff. See ya next year. —
Many people are under the impression that all Mexican food is very hot and spicy. If you are ever lucky enough to visit Mexico you will find that this is not always the case.
Mexico was ruled by Spain between 1519 and 1820, by France between 1864 and 1866, and with its immediate neighbour being the United States the culinary influence from outside its borders has been enormous. Add to this the dishes cooked by its indigenous population for hundreds of years and you have a wonderfully tasty and colourful culinary mixture. As to ingredients, the world can thank Mexico for beans, corn, tomatoes, chocolate, avocado, papaya, guava, vanilla, dozens of spices, and of course, chili peppers.
When you visit Mexico City, you will find one of the major thoroughfares called “Insurgentes”. It is 12 miles long and you will encounter every type of restaurant that you will find in any large city – and more. Mexico City is the most populous in the world with 27 million inhabitants so you will find almost any country´s cuisine in this avenue alone…
“Mexican food is not always hot and spicy, but it is always tasty.”
Everyone is welcome… but…
We want all of our clients to have an enjoyable, different and memorable dining experience at Emma’s Cantina, so we respectfully request that you observe the following.
We have recently changed our policy, and now we accept reservations. We still recommend arriving before 7.30pm or after 9.15pm for the best chance of having a table. Youc an email us on [email protected] or by phoning the number below
Due to size limitations and legal requirements in always having fire exits unhindered, Emma’s Cantina staff will use their discretion before admitting clients with prams, push chairs and buggies. Again, the best time to arrive with babies or small children is before 7pm.
Emma’s Cantina operates a dress code. Gentlemen are requested to arrive dressed smartly casual. They will not be admitted in beach shorts, flip flop sandals or sleeveless tank tops, shirts or vests.
Emma is the only Mexican preparing mexican food in Lanzarote, bringing in many products directly from Mexico for an authentic taste. The presention of our plates is modern European. Please do not expect to find the same plates and tastes as your local High St. Tex-Mex outlet.
Thank you for your comprehension and compliance.
